Blu-ray Experience!!!

Today I want to write about my experience in watching Blu-ray DVDs. Well… I remember the day when I first time in my life watched a movie from a video cassette. It was unbelievable for me because I could watch my favorite movies and cartoons as many times as I wanted to. Then video cassettes were changed to DVD disks. And finally nowadays we have many opportunities in video entertainments. For example, we can watch regular, high definition, and Blu-ray DVDs. For some people the quality of the picture is not important, they can download movies from the Internet which were recorded in a cinema. The funny things of these movies are that you can hear how people in a cinema laughing, talking, and moreover you can see some of them standing up and going to somewhere. I think, I’m a person who likes quality everywhere, so I only enjoy watching movies when they have Blu-ray quality. To understand what Blu-ray means it is not enough to know that it has the highest resolution in its picture; people should watch any movie in Blu-ray so they can understand its advantages. When I watched a Blu-ray movie at the first time, I was shocked about the quality of picture, because it was so real for me. I can even say it was too real, but after I had watched some movies, it was hard for me to watch original TV programs because compare to Blu-ray they have really poor picture quality. In conclusion, I recommend for those who haven’t experienced Blu-ray movies just go to any Futureshop or Best Buy and ask salesman to show you a part from any Blu-ray movies.

Parking Problems in Calgary

In my opinion, there is a big problem with parking in Calgary. First of all, parking in Calgary is very expensive. According to http://www.cbs.ca/, calgary has the most expensive parking in Canada. In the last year Calgary passed Toronto as the priciest place to buy a parking ticket in the downtown business area. For example, a typical parking spot in downtown Calgary costs $375 per month, but a similar place in Toronto is arround $300 each month. Also, according to internet survey, people prefer taking the train when they go to downtown because of the expensive parking and problems to find a parking spot there especially on weekdays. In addition, University of Calgary doesn't have any problem with parking places, but the prices for these spots are really high, so most students prefer taking the train when they go to university. For example, the parking place across the EDC building costs $10 per day, so not many students can pay for it. In conclusion, I think the government should decreace the cost of parking at least in the University of Calgary.

Smoking and Drinking

I agree with laws that forbid advertising campaigns for tobacco and alcohol on TV. First of all, tobacco and alcohol are reasons why people often sick. People destroy their nervous system when they smoke cigarettes and drink alcoholic drinks. Also, there are many children always watch advertising for tobacco and alcohol. There are some bad advertising shows while children are watching a cartoon, so they always remember about these terrible things. In addition, cigarettes and alcohol are global problems. About five percent of people in the world have bad habits such us drinking and smoking. Moreover, smoking and drinking influence on pregnant women’s health. When that woman always smokes cigarettes and drinks alcoholic drinks, her future baby can have some serious diseases. Also, tobacco and alcohol are expensive. One pack of cigarettes costs about 10 dollars, and one alcoholic drink costs about 5 dollars, so smoking and drinking people spend a lot of money every month. Advertising for tobacco and alcohol on TV can create a lot of problems in the world especially for children because they can become addicted in the early age.

Nonverbal Behavior

There are many different cultures in the world. Most of them have own aspects of nonverbal behavior. Russian culture has many different nonverbal behaviors such us greeting and showing respect.Greeting is one example of nonverbal behavior in Russian culture. First of all, shaking hands is an important part of greeting in Russia. For example, when two or more men meet each other they have to shake hands instead of saying Hi. Second, kissing on the cheek is a tradition for women when they greet each other. For instance, when two girls who are friends meet each other at school, they always kiss each other on the cheek. Another example of nonverbal behavior in Russian culture is showing respect. First, making eye contact is necessary when a person wants to show respect to somebody. For example, to make a successful presentation at Tyumen Oil and Gas University, a person has to respect audience by making an eye contact. Also, nodding head is another example of showing respect in Russia. For instance, most professors in Russian universities are over fifty years old, so when a students talk to a professors they always nodding their heads to show agreement.

The Tom Crown Affair

Today I want to write about one of the most interesting movie for me. It calls The Tom Crown Affair. This movie is about money, love, adventure, and relationship between people. There are two primary characters in this movie. One very smart and intelligent millionaire wanted to play an exciting game with the police because he tired about his every day’s things. Also, his business was art galleries, where he spent all his free time. Ok, lets return to exciting game. This game was stilling the most expensive masterpiece, which is cost 100000000 dollars, from competitor’s gallery. And he stole it easily because he had an excellent plan. Moreover, on the next day he donated a picture from his own gallery. After that the police started to make an investigation, but with no luck. Also, an insurance company, where the picture was ensured, sent the best worker to make their own investigation. This worker was a beautiful woman, who soon understood that Tom Crown stole that picture. In short, during that investigation they became in love. And finally Tom Crown just told her, “Tomorrow I will return the stolen picture and go out from this country for ten years, do you want to go with me?” After that she said, ”Sure”. On the next day he went to gallery, to which he donated a picture, and just turned on the fire alarm. The paint leak from this picture and it became into the masterpiece, which he stole few weeks ago.

How to Join to the University of Calgary

First of all, person should decide where he/she wants to study English. Mount Royal College (MRC) is a wonderful place to study this language. The college has an excellent learning and teaching process, so people can study English easily. Because Mount Royal College has the gigantic library, students can do their researches without difficulty. In addition, SAIT is the second place in Calgary where people can improve their English. In fact, SAIT has appropriate prices for its language programs, so person who does not have enough money can try to apply for English course in SAIT. Also, this college has a modern residence where international students may live while they are studying. The third place to study English is the University of Calgary (U of C). This place has very qualified teaching personal, so students can be sure that they will have perfect skills in using English language. In addition, because the University of Calgary has two English Programs such us English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Academic Purposes Program, people have options in studying English.
Second, making a study permit and entering visa is an important step of people way to join to the University of Calgary. Before entering to Canada, people should make the entering visa.
Because of that, person has to fill in an application for a temporary resident visa (IMM 5257). The next important document, which a future student has to get, is official letter about his bank account. Also, people have to apply for a study permit if they want to study in Canada. For this document, they should fill in an application for a study permit (IMM 1294). In addition, they have to send proof of acceptance from an education institution with other documents to the nearest Canadian embassy. Also, people can find other important information and download all useful application forms on www.cic.gc.ca.
Third, when a person is in Canada, he/she has to try to be in English environment. Because people want to study English quickly, they prefer living in a host family. This family always has native speaker members such us host mother and father. Also, in this family students always have a delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Another place to live is a university or college residence. In this place people can meet a lot of new friends who speak English. Also, one of many benefits of residence is location near a studying place.
Next, people can choose one of three main ways to join to the University of Calgary. The first is extremely popular test, called Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). This test is the fastest way to start a degree program. Also, TOEFL is a global test, which most universities accept, so person can pass this exam in his/her home country. Other way is English Academic Purposes Program (EAPP). This program is the best choose when people want to prepare for a future degree program because in the program students learn all strategies which they will use in a measure. Also EAPP program has the most educated English teachers in Calgary, so students can be confident about their excellent preparedness for the university.
Last step is a registration in the University of Calgary. People should have transcripts from a high school. This document is marks from a high school in a letter with a school stump. Also, if person makes a photocopy of his certificate, then a notary has to sing it up. In addition people have to fill an application forms up. They can find this application on www.ucalgary.ca; its name is Application for University Admission. After that, person has to give all of the documents to admission office.

The film is in English language. There are subtitles in the film. The film is derected by David Frankel.Wendy Finerman is a producer of the film.The screenplay is written by Aline Brosh McKenna. The Film distributed by the 20th Century Fox.The movie was filmed in USA and also in France. A main actors are Meryl Streep- Miranda Pristly, Anne Hathaway-Andrea, Emily Blunt-Emily, Stanley Tucci-Nagel, Adrian Grenier-Cristian Tompson, Tracie Thoms-Nate.
Andrea "Andy" Sachs is an aspiring journalist who was graduated from the Northwestern University. She gets a job in one of the most famous New York’s magazine called “Runway ". She gets a job of junior personal assistant of Miranda Priestly. Miranda Priestly is one of the most dominated person of the fashion world. She is very fashionable and responsible person in the fashion world. All people who work in the “Runway” are value ther job because is it very prestige job. The job of personal assistant of Miranda Priestly is also very prestige and million of girls want to get this job. Miranda Priestly is a very pretentions person. She likes all thing will be perfect so nobody worked her personal assistant for long time. It is very hard job to work with Miranda Pristley and who will work with her one eyear this person will get any job of journalist everywere. All girl who work in the “Runway” should wear fashionable clouthe, and should look good every time and work very hard. Andrea was a different she didn’t like spent much time for her appearanse so her co-workers made fun of her. Miranda Priestly give unrealise job but Andrea desided all problems in time. Than Andrea became very fashionable and succesful but her relationships with her boy friend became worse, and they broke up.
At the film's conclusion, she was offered a job as a newspaper reporter in a different newspaper which she gets by help from Miranda Pristley. Also, her relationships with her boyfriend renews.
I like this movie because it is a comedy and drama at the same time. Also, there is one of my favourite actress Meryl Streep. I enjoed acting of Meryl Streep who played Miranda Pristley. I think she is the best actress who can play this role. Also, I enjoed the finnies part of movie like Andrea’s unrealise job and ways deside her problems. This movie filmed in New York and Paris. In my oppinion it is a very good and professional camera work. I think this film is better to see for woman because this film is about fashion and relationships between man and women. I would recomend this film for people who interested of fashion and people who likes a romantic stories. I think I would rate this film out of 4.5 stars from 5 stars because it is unusual film and I like it.

Iphone

Well….Today I’m going to write about one of the Apple’s products that is Iphone. In my opinion a lot of people in the world are interested in Iphones. Moreover, most of them want to buy one, but the primary problem is that they can’t buy them because Canada is not allowed to sell Iphones, because of some problems with copy rights….Anyway…. Nowadays, a lot of people in Canada are using Iphone. You can ask me, “Where did they buy them?” My answer is EBAY(The most popular internet store in the world). Also, people could hear that Iphones can only be used with AT Company (the company that provides the wireless connection in the USA). This is not really true because originally people could use Iphones with only that company, but nowadays computer hackers have solved this annoying problem; as the result, people can unlock Iphones by using special software which they can buy in EBAY too. The worst thing about buying Iphones online is that people cannot buy them from official Apple web site in the USA because Iphones from that web site can only be delivered across the USA. In addition, in the official web site they cost between $300 and $400, but in EBAY they cost between $530 and $650. I know that is terrible….But EBAY is the only way Canadian can buy Iphones.

Ratatue

This movie is about a rat named Remy who always dreams of becoming a great French chef. Remy has a wonderful sense of smell and he hates garbage. Once he risks by death to enter to a human kitchen where he discovers real food and the cooking book of five-star chef. The author of the book "Anyone Can Cook" and his hero named, Auguste Gusteau, appears to Remy in visions during the film. One time, in the Gusteau's restaurant Remy saw a garbage boy named Alfredo who spills a pot of soup and tries to save the soup by adding random ingredients. To help Alfredo, Remy decided to fix the damage soup. The soup was a success and Alfriedo’s career as a chef is started. He didn’t cook this soup by himself, so he asked Remy to help him all the time. The best part of the movie is when Alfredo had very important costumer in his restaurant and he had to cook special dish for the critic. But he was unable to cook without Ramy. When Alfredo introduced Ramy to the staff they all left. After that Ramy and his friends decided to help Alfredo and the rat colony cooked under Remy's directions. The ratatouille they cooked was so good. After taking a peace the critic relived memories of his childhood. Then he asked to meet the chef, but Alfredo said if he wants to see the chef he has to wait until the end of the dinner. At the end of the services, Ramy was introduced to the critic. Next day, critic wrote in the newspaper that the chef at Gusteau's is the greatest chef in all of France. I saw this movie a few days ago and I must say I really enjoyed it. I want to watch this movie again because I really like this great kind story. The filmmakers’ job was exellent because they created good animations. I would like to recommend this movie for people who want to spend time in a movie theater with their kids and adults who want to watch something light and funny.

What does INTERNET mean in Russia and Canada?

Well...The Internet is one of the best inventions in the world, in my opinion. In different countries the usefulness of the internet is different. Today I just want to compare 2 big and powerful countries which are Russia and Canada in using the internet. When I was living in Russia I didn't use the internet a lot because in my school and university teachers didn't often ask students to do researches in the internet. Maybe that happened because the teachers didn't trust the internet resources in that time, I don't really know. The teachers usually asked the students to go to libraries and find books to do researches. Also, another reason why the internet in Russia isn't really popular is that Internet providers have difficulty to provide the internet in every apartment because usually people live in apartment buildings with about 9 floors (the capacity of those buildings is about 1000 apartments). Even nowadays most population in Russia has connection to the internet through their telephone cables which provide them a really poor connection (usually the speed is 31 kb/s). For example, if I wanted to download a song in Russia 2 years ago, it could take me couple hours....But nowadays in Russia the Internet is become popular, and the internet providers give the costumers opportunity to have the high internet speed. Ok... Let’s write a little bit about the internet situation in Canada. You can have a question, why do you want to write just a little bit about the internet in Canada? I can answer that question easily... When I came to Canada at the first time, I was amazed about the internet speed. I could download a song in 1 second. For me it was unbelievable. Moreover, I was shocked about the wireless connection to the internet because I didn't know that I can have connection to the internet without any cables. Right now, I cannot imagine the life in Canada without Internet because in the internet I can buy everything I want, check my marks and bank account, and so on...

Business

Business is very important aspect in people’s life. Well… People need to work somewhere to support themselves at least, but if they have families they have to support them too. Also, I found a really big difference between Canadian and Russian cultures. In Russia people like to have their own business, but Canadians prefer to work for somebody… So lets thing about the reasons… I think that happens because in Russia if people work for somebody, they will earn about $300 per month, but when they has their own business their salary will be about $2000.. See a different…I think it is a big different…Unlike to Russia, in Canada people prefer working for somebody, and I can understand why… First of all, Canadian workers have a good minimum salary, which is $8 that is enough to survive here. Also, they usually have a lot of different benefits. I think, because of these two reasons Canadians usually work for somebody.. Also, I want to say If a person wants to earn a lot of money in Canada, he or she should get a good degree (not only the official paper about finishing a university, but also the good knowledge). Also, he or she should have really good communication skills in order to survive in a business life. In contrast to Canada, in Russia people just have to have a lot of money, and some good friends who can provide a security for the future business.

EDITING

Editing is very helpful exercise for everybody. First of all, I’m going to write about editing during a studying period. All students have an experience in editing because they are doing different kind of assignments, so to write a perfect paragraph a student should edit it after the first draft. Also, editing can be not only for your own assay or paragraph, but also you can edit your friend’s writing works, so you can learn a new style of writing, structure, grammar and etc. Second, in my opinion we have an editing process during the whole life. For example, we always make different mistakes, and if we do an editing (analyze the mistake) for these mistakes, hopefully we will not make these mistakes again. Moreover, we can make an editing for somebody’s mistakes, so that is much better because you haven’t done any mistakes, you have learned from somebody’s mistakes. In Russia we have a really interesting proverbium,

“Smart people learn from somebody’s mistakes, not smart people learn from their own mistakes.”

In our EAP program we have to write a lot of perfect assays, especially in level three because in that level we should have 85% as a final mark for our writing class. Good Luck everybody with you editing during the life.

In 1873 Willoughby Smith invented one of the most useful discoveries called television. He did not even think how important it would be today. In the present time a lot of people all around the world can not imagine their life without TV which has many influential channels, so they spend a great deal of time watching television programs. Also, the world economic system depends on the influence on people by television advertisiments which they are watching every time during movies, cartoons, news, and shows. Watching TV programs has several advantages.
There are many useful and influential TV programs in the television industry. First of all, a lot of people all over the world prefer watching educational programs. For example, a person who is living in Canada may enjoy important news programs such us City News, Daily News, and BBC News. Also, people could easily find the appropriate information about the weather conditions in their city. For instance, on City TV Canadians might watch real information about the weather situation everyday at 9 p.m. In addition, if people are second language learners, wathing TV programs is a great way for him to learn new language easily. For example, they can improve their second language skills while they are watching MithBusters at Discovery channel. The world has several TV chanels which people can enjoy at anytime. Also, during the past 15 years people could become watching many different entertainment programs. First, there are many chanels which show lots of different movies daily. For example, Rogers company provides a movie channel for their costumers called TBS.com. In this channel a lot of people like watching the action movies on Saturday at 9 p.m. Second, a person can enjoy watching many different and interesting shows. For instance, one of the most favorite people’s shows is Friends, so they often watch it every day at 8 p.m. on TBS.com channel. Next, because a great deal of modern cartoons on the TV such us Simpsons and South Park, teenagers can be interested in viewing them. Next, the world TV has many useful advertisements. First of all, the health products are very popular in nowadays. For example, a lot of people all around the world like watching advertisements about weight lost products such us pills and diets, so people can easily decide diets or pill they need. Moreover, there are many Hi-tech promotions in every country. For instance, in Russia workers enjoy viewing commercial about computer and robot technology because they every time want to upgrade their technology in case of making more money at work.

EAPP3

I have been studying in AEPP program for almost one year, and I really enjoy it because of the many reasons which I would like to mention in that blog. Now I'm studying in EAPP3 and I really like it because we have a great deal of useful materials, and of course very good teachers such us Ilana and Murray. The first week of classes I was absent because my parents were visiting me, so I had to be with my family in that time. When I started to study from the second week, it was little bit hard for me because I had to adapt for class work. Also, I want to write a little bit about our teachers- Ilana and Murray. First of all, I want to say that they are both great teachers for some reasons. First, Murray was teaching me before in ESL program at the University of Calgary. His listening and speaking lessons were great because I think he has a huge working experience. And now I really happy to have this perfect teacher again. Another excellent teacher in my course is my grammar and writing teacher. Her name is Ilana and she is Russian. It was unbelievable for me when I heard it for the first time, because I have never had a Russian teacher in Canada for my English classes. Also, I want to say that if nobody didn’t tell me that she is Russian I wouldn’t never recognize it because she doesn’t have any accent in my opinion. In conclusion, I want white that I really enjoy my classes….

How Cars are Important for Russian and Canadian People

When I came to Canada I was shocked how Canadians use their cars. Usually For them it is doesn't matter what kind of cars they have. They use cars only to move quickly. Unlike to Canadian people, Russian people just love their cars. They can spend a lot of money to buy very cool cars. For example, there are a lot of examples in russia whe people sold their houses, businesses and so on only because they wanted to buy a very nice car( usually it is mercedies brand). In contrast to Russia, in Canada people prefer buy not expensive cars such us pontiac and so on. Also, Canadians really like to buy big cars such us Doudge Ram 2500, but I don't know the reason... In Russia people like to buy classic and expensive cars...The End.

Calgary Kart Racing Club

Today I want to write about what I was talking in my final presentation. Well... My presentation was abaut Calgary Kart Racing Club which is in Calgary Speed Park in SE Calgary. This club is a local organisation with 14 workers. All fundings usually came from the costumers. Also, all prices depend of costumers age and kind of racers’ karts. For example, when a person decided to join that club, he/she needs to pay for a kart, special clothes and so on (total cost for all equipment is $6,350. In addition, avarage ege of members is 13 years old. Next, all meetings and activities held in Calgary Speed Park, where people can gat all information about this club. Finally, here are a lot of volunteer opportunities for Canadians and international students during a competition period.

Russian Roads

There are many problems in Russia, but the most difficult of them are roads. In capital city called Moscow the roads are mostly in good condition, but in other small towns and villages the roads are terrible. Because of these roads Russians have many heavy duty cars which can drive everywhere. Also, these cars are very cheap. Each of them cost around $5.000 dollars, so most people can buy them.

Today is November 15th and it Means that SunShine Village is Open

Well... You may have a question "What is Sunshine?" Sunshine is a beautiful place in Rocky Mountains where everybody can SKI. Long Weekend Ahead

Today is Friday and it is the last day of classes before long weekend. I have some interesting plans for this weekend such us going fishing and ski. Let’s write about fishing. Fishing is my favorite hobby which I enjoy every time. Also, Alberta has many lakes for fishing such us Chain, McGregor, and Goats lakes. In these three lakes you can catch different fish. For example, Chain Lake has a lot of Troats, McGregor has big Pikes, and Goast Lake has a great deal of big Nalims. For fishing in Alberta you just need to by a license, and you can start fishing everywhere.

Today is a very nice day because we have snow outside. Yesterday my assumption about see my midterm grades was wrong, so now I hope that our teachers is going to give us our marks today. What else to write. Hmm... I have 13 minutes to write something before the classes start. I think this weekend will be difficult for everyone in EAP2 because we have a lot of homework that should be done by Monday. Ok, now is 10.25 and I have to go to my classes...

I don't really know what to write about, but I'll try. Today is the first day after midterms, and I feel myself very happy because I don't need to study A LOT. OK, lets write about midterms. In my opinion, some of them were not really easy and not really difficult. The hardest one for me was writing exam because while I'm in class I know everything (vocab, essay structure and etc.), but on my writing exam I was confused about many things. I hope today I'll see my results.
